Smiling. That's easy.  But then it fades.   And that is easier.    'Is everything okay?'     'I'm okay, I promise.'      And there the questions       Give way to assumptions.        'He said he is fine, so why         can't you leave him alone?'                                           No!         I don't want to be alone.        But how can they tell?       How can I tell them?      That my smiles are     Only lies to make    Them all happy.   Smiling is easy.  It is harder to Make it look. Easy.

Two perfectly normal strangers cross paths on the sidewalk. They share no more than a passing glance and a nod before continuing on their way. One of them, the MVP of the football team, had a cast on his arm. The other, a Sophomore girl with no reputation at all, also had an injury. There was no cast, Or bandage, Or obvious wound. Her injury could not be seen from the outside. The football player went home to a loving family And words of sympathy From his friends. People signed his cast And gave him "get well soon!"cards, Because they knew the pain He was going through. The girl also went home To a house more fractured than any bone.
